Passenger registration
In compliance with Directive 98/41/EC of the European Union, incorporated into Greek law through Presidential Decree 23/1999, as amended and in effect, the following information is recorded for every passenger ship departing from Greek ports for voyages exceeding 20 nautical miles:
- Passenger’s last name, first name or initial, gender, age or age category, and any voluntarily provided information regarding special care or assistance required.
Passengers are responsible for verifying the accuracy of ticket details (date, time, itinerary, ship, identity details, etc.) during online booking or ticket issuance. Tickets should not be accepted if any details are incorrect.
Transferring tickets without the approval of the carrier or ticket issuer is prohibited.
When booking tickets electronically or in person, passengers must provide accurate identity information, a contact phone number, and an email address solely for notifications from the carrier in case of delays, cancellations, or itinerary changes. If passengers prefer not to disclose contact details, this must be recorded in the carrier’s Integrated Passenger and Vehicle Reservation and Ticketing System (H.S.K.TH.E.E.A.).
For online reservations, passengers must enter their contact details in the relevant electronic form.
Fares - Discounts
Passenger tickets and vehicle transport receipts display the total fare, which includes the net fare, third-party charges (fees, surcharges), and VAT.
The categories of individuals eligible for discounted fares are detailed in Ministerial Decision 3324.1/01/13 (15/07/2013), as amended and in effect. Passengers must inform the carrier during booking and before ticket issuance if they are entitled to a discount and provide the necessary documentation.
Children aged up to 5 years travel for free, but a ticket with a zero fare must still be issued.
Luggage
Passengers are entitled to carry hand luggage up to 50 kg without incurring additional charges. Passengers with reduced mobility are entitled to transport, free of charge, any equipment or aids required for their independent movement, regardless of weight.
If luggage is handed over for safekeeping and a receipt is issued, the carrier is not liable for any damage or loss of luggage onboard.
Lost tickets
In case of a lost ticket or vehicle transport receipt, the passenger must purchase a new ticket to travel. If the passenger submits a written declaration detailing the travel date, itinerary, and both the lost and new ticket numbers, and if an audit by the consortium confirms that the lost ticket was neither used nor replaced, the passenger is entitled to a new ticket of equal value, provided this process is completed within six (6) months from the travel date.
Pets
The consortium’s passenger ships provide designated areas for pets during travel, where pets must remain throughout the journey.
Exceptionally, small pets may accompany their owners in passenger lounges if transported in special carriers or cages, or if they wear a muzzle and are vaccinated.
Safety onboard
Passengers are required to:
- Follow the instructions of the ship’s personnel regarding order, cleanliness, and safety.
- Comply with the ship’s regulations and instructions from the captain or crew.
- Avoid transporting explosives, flammable, incendiary, or dangerous materials.
- Refrain from discarding waste onboard or into the sea.
- Store bulky luggage or items in designated areas to avoid obstructing passenger pathways.
- Avoid placing luggage or items on seats or passenger areas.
Note: Passengers are prohibited from staying in open deck areas of dynamically supported vessels during the voyage.
Complaints and reports
For any complaints or reports during the voyage, passengers may contact the designated officer onboard. After the trip, they may address their concerns to the ticket issuer, the consortium, or port authorities, as stipulated by applicable legislation.
Passenger rights in cases of delays (departure or voyage), travel interruptions, cancellations, missed connections, etc., are as defined in Law 3709/2008, as amended and in effect.
CASES WHERE PASSENGER CLAIMS ARE NOT APPLICABLE
No claims can be made for delays, interruptions, cancellations, or alterations to schedules arising from reasons of public order or safety, particularly due to adverse weather conditions, legal requirements, or orders from competent authorities. This includes:
